DEI is dying in Indiana

Last week both of the large public institutions in Indiana–Indiana University and Purdue both ‘sunsetted’ their DEI progams.

From Purdue’s statement:

“The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging will close, as will related activities in colleges and departments. Staff colleagues working in these areas will have the opportunity to interview for current vacancies in other areas.”

IU was a lot more weasel worded IMO:

“To further ensure compliance with state and federal guidance, the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will sunset, effective today. The university is also directing campuses, schools and units to take necessary steps to ensure compliance with state and federal policies and guidance.

Finally, the Office of Institutional Equity has transitioned to become the Office of Civil Rights Compliance, which more accurately reflects its work and mission to oversee the university’s compliance with federal civil rights laws.”

Ivy Tech, the community college system in Indiana went through all of this in February.

Indiana’s AG is looking very closely at Notre Dame as well.

Now we’ll see if the next shoe to drop is connected to Chinese student visas

  2. The programs may be “sunsetted”, but the ideologies of envy and special treatment aren’t going away. A minor tilt in political power, and we’ll be right back on the fast track to communist town – picking winners and losers on the basis of anything other than merit.
