Food Safety–Another benefit of getting rid of rules

A rule that was just made for exploitation is the Generally Recognized As Safe rule from the corrupt ‘top men’ at the FDA. This rule has been allowing Big Food to adulterate US foodstuffs for decades.

The Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) rule allows companies to self-approve the inclusion of additives in food items without requiring a review and the approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The rule enables manufacturers to add an ingredient even if the FDA has not determined its safety.

Reporting the addition of chemicals into food under this rule was not even mandatory. 766 chemicals have been added to US food products in the last twenty five years. That’s just the ones we know about. If a company didn’t submit a report, then there is no paper trail. Experts estimate there’s over 1000 mystery additives.

Real nice loophole the sleazebags at the FDA decided to hand to companies. And it took getting RFK Jr into place to bring it to public notice.

No wonder that US food products have warning labels in other countries.

From RFK Jr

European nations, on the other hand, require that a chemical be proven safe before it becomes a food ingredient. In our country, the GRAS standard means that every chemical is presumed safe until proven dangerous. That proof might not come until millions of Americans are suffering from chronic disease. This mass experiment on the American population with GRAS has, in short, been a catastrophe.

We now have around 10,000 chemicals in our food. Europe has only 400.

For example, titanium dioxide—potentially linked to DNA damage and cancer—is banned in the EU, but it’s in our children’s food. Potassium bromate, a suspected carcinogen, is banned in Europe and Japan. You guessed it—it’s in our children’s bread.

Food dyes such as Red Dye 40 and Yellow 5 and 6 come with warning labels in Europe. They’re linked to behavioral issues in children. But in the U.S., they are generally recognized as safe.

No matter how much you hate the government, it’s not enough. The FDA knew that this loophole was being exploited and did nothing. Americans were (and still are) being poisoned. Without Trump’s win, the status quo would still be in place.

  1. When store bought bread will last for weeks in the bread drawer without growing mold it’s pretty obvious something isn’t right. Seems like the best bet is to try to consume locally grown vegetables and locally raised meat from small farms and ranches. You are 100% correct that the government isn’t hated enough.

  3. this has a long history. It began I think around 150 years ago when companies were putting garbage into canned meat product and selling them to settlers out West, Then someone came long and objected and a law was passed in Congress about safety in food. I guess somehow that law has been bypassed

  4. Our grandson who we adopted was highly sensitive to food dyes especially blue and yellow. We asked the teacher with the backing of the school counselor to not let him have any food or drink he didn’t bring from our home. They didn’t comply and several times he came home bouncing off the walls because they experimented on him! His behavior caused problems that had the other kids bullying him. Finally slowed the problem by putting him on homeschool.

  5. Hammer, my brother had similar issues. When put on the Feingold diet, he was significantly better. The only thing I remember was no artificial dyes or colors and no tomato products.

  6. And then there’s Carrageenen. An emulsifying agent made from red seaweed. And been known since 1968 to cause colon cancer and to cause irritable bowel syndrome.

Found in puddings, many ice creams and sherberts and other things.
