Hoping this is the last time

Truthfully I don’t care if it’s Daylight Savings (although I’d prefer it) or Standard time. I’ve always thought that the twice a year changing is a psy-op to keep us off balance.

In any case, unless you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that doesn’t do this nonsense, remember to spring forward your clocks.

  1. At one point I had read about the increase in heart attacks and resulting deaths as a direct result of the time change, basically from stress. Each time change kills about 650 people in the United States.

  2. People bitch about a one hour time change yet happily hop on a plane and fly to Europe or Hawaii and subject them selves to jet lag of several hours. Americans are pussies. Can’t handle something as innocuous as a one hour time change….because they didn’t CHOOSE it.

  3. Unferth–I read that as well. Along with the animal deaths because of traffic timing changes.

xray–Actually because it’s stupid and useless. Yes, people travel and pay the cost. Yes, this is forced on us. The reasons for continuing to do so no longer hold weight. And you need to moderate your tone or I will do it.

  4. It does interfere with your base circadian rhythm. There is no basis in science or medicine to change the clocks. We function just fine if darkness or daylight during the season changes if the clock would remain the same. Humans and animals adjust to patterns and do not enjoy it being disturbed. DLST does it. When I worked graves as a nurse you can observe in yourself and co-workers, patients on the usual 2am time change, you have to adjust medications, therapies to the change. Animals do respond to the time change, they become bewildered as to why their human awakes earlier, gets home later. Animals don’t have a sense of linear time as we do, but they have a sense of time.

  5. Cederq—Exactly and both wild and domestic animals are affected as well as humans. And it’s a useless exercise that does nothing but mess us all up.

  6. Have you noticed that the clocks change during the middle of “tax season” and two days before national elections?

  7. Not sure why we bother up here in the Last Frontier. Where I live it doesn’t get dark from late April till early August. The other half of the year is mostly darkness. Not really sure just what I’m “saving”….

  8. And remember as you are changing your clocks that you don’t hate the government enough.

  9. Kirby–They do now but I think that it migrated a little bit. But yes, getting people off balance at crucial times.

p2–It really doesn’t matter where you are, for sure.

    MrLiberty–Good point.
