Calling out idiocy, but doing it in a classy way

Over at the FCC, the Democratic Commissioner, Anna Gomez, repeats every speech she makes in Spanish, which is a clear waste of time. And now that the Executive Order that English is the Official Language of the US is in place, could be against policy.

The Republican Commissioner, Nathan Simington, decided to point this out by repeating his entire speech in Romanian.

To which Gomez replied ‘That was super-cool’ and then (in Spanish) ‘and your mother’.

I’m sure those meetings are mind-numbing anyway without someone grandstanding in a second language constantly. Especially with translators and transcriptions can be made available after the fact.

    1. They are so horrible. It reminded me of the Saturday Night Live skit where they did foreign accents for names and places. Bunch of posers.

  3. Years ago, the kid’s Catholic school decided to virtual signal by having everything repeated in Spanish. There was only one Hispanic family in attendance and the father was constantly signaling that he understood English and quit trying to drag out the meeting. Nope. Virtual signaling for the loss.
