Robocalls and the FCC

I guess all it takes for the FCC to take action against robocalls, is for the FCC to be the recipient of scam robocalls

Ars Technica reports that robocallers posing as employees of the FCC inadvertently targeted real FCC staff members and their families with a scam aimed at intimidating and defrauding unsuspecting victims. The incident, which occurred on the night of February 6, 2024, has prompted the FCC to take swift action against the voice service provider allegedly responsible for enabling the illegal robocalls.

Their asses got busted in two days.

The money quote:

the FCC has not previously demanded “perfection” in stopping illegal traffic

Because it never affected the FCC before. Regular folks whose not-so-savvy grandma went and got thousands of dollars in gift cards because they were told they or a relative were going to be jailed never got satisfaction so quickly…..

  1. I always said that if any candidate promised to stop robocalls and jail the folks perpetrating them was a sure winner of any election, no matter what.
