Well that was great!

Trump, in his Inaugural Address, basically told the previous Presidents sitting there that his goal is to fix everything they broke.

I’m pretty sure that Biden couldn’t understand what was being said–and I think he fell asleep at least once. But Harris looked like she was chewing on glass. The feed I was watching somehow kept Hillary out of frame the whole time, even when they panned out.

Karen Pence didn’t show, which was good because she’s shown she can’t behave like an adult.

Barron Trump, beside being taller than everyone, was very impressive. Great young man. Very put together and gracious.

The thing that did give me a ‘hmmm’ moment was the fact that every dem referred to the US as a democracy, and Trump is the only one who correctly called our country a Republic.

It was interesting that the third thing signed, after the official taking control of the government, was a proclamation that regardless of anything else, on Inauguration Day, flags are to be flown at full mast.

ETA: The CBP app went down at 12:01pm ET.

This is the app the Biden gang used to fly in hundreds of thousands of “asylum seekers” during his four years in office. Foreigners could download the app, make an asylum claim, link up with an American non-profit sponsor, and be flown into America on the taxpayer’s dime.

  1. “I will Put America First.”

Nice to hear any politician, much less the President, promise that.

  2. B, yup!
He’s the only guy that would’ve stood up there and spoke clearly and plainly about his beliefs and his plans and say the things he said! He did not speak to the room, he spoke to the country!

  3. I was noticing all those people who emphasized ‘DEMOCRACY!’
Which caused me to wonder why they’re so damn allergic to the ‘Republic’ we are.

  4. B–It was a wonderful moment!

    G–Agreed.

Firehand–That bothered me too. Maybe they just can’t say the word. Republic=Republican; Dem=Democracy? That’s why they’ve tried so hard to change the language?

  5. A democracy is a state which recognizes the subjection of the minority to the majority, that is, an organization for the systematic use of violence by one class against the other, by one part of the population against another.

    Democracy is indispensable to socialism.

  6. I thought this speech was the finest example of speaking truth to power I have ever seen. Instead of dicking around, Trump calmly laid out the failures and mistakes of the old guard – in their presence – and indicated what actions he would take to fix them. No punches pulled as we don’t have time for niceties anymore.

  7. The best part of yesterday, IMHO, was signing all of those EO’s in the Oval while holding an impromptu press conference answering every question put to him. Granted the reporters attending were probably hand picked friendlies, however watching Trump sitting there working while giving straight forward answers to every question was refreshing.

  8. I also caught the “democracy” reference. I was glad 47 got it right. We are a Representative Republic!

  9. wv–Truth!

Texas Dan–It was a thing of beauty. And yes, a true speech to (former) power…

Nemo–That was great too. I enjoyed watching it all. The only time I turned the volume down was if ‘commentors’ decided to give their useless 1 cent.

Frankenwelder–Made me cringe every time. And I literally cheered when 47 said Republic!
