WTF is up with our Weekend at Bernies government?

This upcoming Congress has some committees that are going to be concentrating on the federal employee problem–people not showing up, living in places but collecting higher wages, etc. It’s something that needs to be handled.

But how the pluperfect hell did a Congresswomen not show up for work IN CONGRESS for six months and no one searched her out? Her offices were closed, no one answered the phones (not unusual so not a complete red flag), and she hadn’t cast a vote since July (you’d think that would be a clue).

A local newspaper found her (finally) in a memory care unit. Her staff, as far as I can tell from articles, had not reported her change in living arrangements.

Ironically enough, it has the Dems calling for term limits and there are a lot of other examples–Pelosi breaking a hip, the famous ‘Mitch Glitch’, Diane Feinstein, who couldn’t handle her own affairs and had to have a power of attorney, but who was still casting votes in Congress.

All of those pale in comparison to the travesty perpetuated on the American people and the world by the DNC and everyone around Biden, which, IMO, should be the impetus for some treason rulings and should invalidate every executive order, pardon, or other action that could be attributed solely to Biden. Reading about everything that was done is like some kind of bizarro, dark version of the movie ‘Dave’ where the imposter, instead of making things better, brought the world to the brink of destruction and war.

Read this article over at Liberty Daily. The author says it better than I can. An excerpt:

Biden was kept in place like a king to the detriment of our nation and national security.  Responsibility to remove President Biden was squarely on Vice President Harris and Biden’s cabinet according to the 25th Amendment.

Their failure to remove him is nothing short of a soft coup – leaving him in power while they ran the country from behind the scenes, acting in the capacity of President when they were not elected to that role.  Democrats allowed this same situation to persist when President Wilson had his stroke.  It is not the intent of our Founders or the Constitution to allow others to do the job of an elected or appointed official during a period when their mental faculties are compromised.

The corruption is front and center. Those perpetuating it are known. Time for some consequences.

  1. The congress woman was a Republican….

I am of the firm belief that we need competency tests for any legislator (or president) after age 60.

As for Biden, anyone associated with hiding his inability to do anything, much less be president, should be jailed as a traitor, as they were complicit in him being a figurehead (and who is the eminence grise?) Ever since the debate (actually, before), we have known, that he was incapable of running his own affairs, much less the countries. Yet we as a country, allowed his administration to continue. Why is that? Who is running the White House? I have asked this over and over, but no answer.

  2. “we need competency tests for any legislator (or president) after age 60”

Looking around, I see many examples in Congress to justify competency tests for under 60 … AOC for example. The Squad. Swalwell. More.

  3. Ya know M/W Chick, in all honesty this is no worse than when Diane Feinstein was getting wheeled into the Senate and having a staffer guide her hand on how to vote.

    What. A. Mess.

  4. She was a Republican? Irrelevant. Toss her @$$ out immediately. Talk about dereliction! Sheesh.

Fineswine and others also need to be tossed. Let’s start with Mitch the Turtle and end with Pelousy.

  5. The entire system should be overhauled. Staggered terms provide some measure of continuity, but that, IMHO, is a double edged sword. At best only about 60% of congress can be replaced at any one time. Mostly Cajun (I believe) summarized it thusly: If government were a full glass of water taken from a septic tank and you replaced half of it with fresh water, are you drinking it?

Terms should probably align (although there are myriad issues with that idea) and be limited, K Street lobbyists should be banned like asbestos, representatives should be in DC only when in session and be required to reside in their district when not, therefore having to live with the rules they impose, campaigns may only run the 30 business days prior to an election….

  6. B–Yep, but her staff were as corrupt as any Dem by not making it known to leadership that she was completely incapacitated and unable to do her job. People were screaming for competency tests for Biden and his ‘doctor’ sidestepped and lied. And Congress refused to invoke the 25th amendment. There’s a list somewhere of the presidential duties ‘taken over’ by staffer. There’s even a picture of his wife on AF1 prepping for a world meeting. All should be prosecuted.

DT–There’s a difference between stupid and incompetent, although the Venn diagram has a lot of overlap.

    WDS–Only by degree.

Igor–It should be a no-brainer that if someone has a power of attorney for their personal affairs then they shouldn’t be in Congress. And as for Mitch, there’s some serious cover-up going on there as well.

p2–Maybe going back to Senators being put in place by the states, rather than popular vote would be a good place. And term limits. And no revolving door between departments and lobbyists.

  7. Besides term limits, returning selection of senators to the states, and competency tests, place an upper age limit on who can serve, maybe 70, 75 tops. If they would reach the mandatory retirement age in the middle of a term, then they should be ineligible to run for that term and be forced to retire shy of the mandatory retirement age. Why the hell are we allowing a gerontocrcy? These dessicated sonsabitches shouldn’t get to spend 4-5 decades suckling at the teat, go get a real job or go fishing. Or better still, just die already. I’m sick of seeing filthy rich zombies who freeze up mid sentence determine our destiny.

Funny enough with the Weekend at Bernie’s reference, Bernie is one of the few old farts who is still cogent. Of course, he’s an idiot socialist (well, except as regards his own wealth), but at least he can form coherent sentences and doesn’t move like the grim reaper has a hand up his ass just waiting to collect his soul. Go figure.

  8. The Constitution only works for a certain kind of person. not all people are the same. there were comments by the founding fathers along these lines.

  9. BRD–Agree. There should be a mandatory retirement age in addition to the rest of it. Weekend at Bernie’s was a movie where a guy died, but two other guys tried to convince people he was alive. It’s not a reference to Sanders.

    Avraham–True.

  10. Midwest chick – I’m familiar with the movie, I just wanted to take a dig at “that other Bernie” for good measure, since I was already tearing the ass out of politicians. My obtuse humor probably didn’t land the way I intended.
