Cheaters never win

San Jose State took their battle on behalf of the dude on their women’s volleyball team to the end.  They lost the championship and were likely only there due to eight forfeits that counted as wins.

They alienated their players, at least one coach, and a bunch of schools in their conference.  Because they thought this dude would give them a winning edge.

San Jose State University has finally acknowledged that it has lost a significant number of women from its volleyball team amid the ongoing controversy over the school’s decision to include a transgender player.

The mass exodus comprises at least seven players who have entered the college transfer portal and will leave the team after this 2024 school year.

It’s pretty likely that their volleyball program is going to hit the skids.

Well deserved.

  1. I’m good with that. Do you think that other schools might learn from this lesson?

  2. Bigus Macus–Only if they’re forced to, I think. On the K-12 level folks are getting really pissed. And with the Biden Admin punting the new transgender rule that the NCAA and others had been hiding behind, I imagine they’ll crumble, but not without a fight.

  3. The departures effectively kill the program for at least a year, maybe 2-3 years. Possibly even permanently. That’s a good result.
As far as learning goes? Probably not. Women’s sports are simply not viable without subsidy, so in fact this will save the school some money. And as a recruiting tool, volleyball is roughly on part with sudden-death tiddlywinks. Might be a total of 50 people nationwide who care.
