18 years…

It took 18 years for Crystal Magnum to admit she lied about the Duke LaCrosse team raping her.  People lost their jobs.  The Duke ’88’, the equivalent of a modern lynch mob, was all over the place excoriating the team due to optics (poor black stripper vs Duke white boys).  Durham county district attorney, Mike Nifong, went all in against the lacrosse team.  He was later disbarred for withholding DNA evidence and for lying to the court.

She’s in jail for killing her boyfriend (years later) and had previously almost torched her three kids when she set their house on fire (also after the lacrosse lies).

It was the first ‘believe all women’ travesty.  The team members were found innocent.  They didn’t prosecute Magnum for perjury because of HER mental health issues.  What about the fucking mental health of the students whose lives were put into shambles?  For the folks who lost their jobs, like the lacrosse coach?  For the faculty who should have lost their jobs for persecuting those students?

The former students sued Duke, and got $20 million a piece.  One of the three actually graduated from Duke and the other two transferred to other institutions.  The university spent $100 million in legal fees.

All for a lie.

    Odessa, in the70s. A junior high school girl was grounded for bad grades. She accused a neighbor of molesting her. He lost his family, home,freedom for several years. She finally admitted she lied. He got outta prison. Yay,, Poor guy.

    Took a minute to think about this post. WTF is wrong with her, lies with little or no consequences.

    No offense to the Ladies, but it's long been a thing where the “Judiciary” err on the 'Side of Caution”. Men have been suffering at the hands (and by that I mean EMPTY WORDS) of Females for ages. Myself included. Based on ZERO evidence and “testimony alone” I found myself out in the street, barely avioiding arrest, etc., based on “her word” only. In spite of the fact that I had first hand witness testimony from HER OWN SON to the contrary of all accusations.My Atty had to wrangle (i.e. BEG) and convinced her atty to get her to WITHDRAW the “complaint” otherwise, without any TRIAL, JURY, etc., I would have been found “GUILTY” and been required to register as a “Physical Abuser” anywhere I resided within the boundary of the Commonwealth of PA IN PERPETUITY.Yeah, this shit touches a very sore spot for the Ole Boneman.

    Veeshir–Both true. I still don't know how the 88 kept their jobs. Jen–Good point. That and she 'wrote' a memoir a while ago–maybe needs money.Matthew–Exactly.Justin–It's the witch hunts of the 1600's. Nothing has changed. The girl who lied in France and got her teacher decapitated comes to mind as a more recent example.Terry–The problem is that there are no consequences for lying. Any punishment that those boys were going to get (and thankfully didn't) should be tacked on to her sentence.Boneman–I am sorry you went through that. Yes, the judiciary is definitely biased.
