Dear New York Times–Women are not a subset of the Trans people

Okay, so the New York Times clearly lost the plot years ago.  But damn, I guess no matter how low you think ‘journalists’ can go, there’s always another step on the pathway to hell.

In an article about the San Jose State University’s male volleyball player the following was included:

“The NCAA says trans volleyball players are eligible to play if their testosterone level is less than 10 nanomoles per liter — that’s at least four times more than what many experts say is the top of the range for non-transgender women, and in the typical range for adult men.”

Read it again slowly–the article refers to women as ‘non-transgender women’.  As if women, XX chromosome, over half of the population, women are a subset of the trans community (not XX chromosome and definitely not anywhere close to half of the population).

Martina Navratilova said it best:

If there was ever a question that the main stream media is misogynistic and have fully drunk the trans-Koolaid, then it’s put to rest right now.  The fact that the article was written by a woman shows how much that generation has been brainwashed, is evident.

  1. You think they would pump the brakes on the social retardation, but no.“Intellectuals” must constantly circumvent common sense to show us their higher level of evolution and moral superiority.

  2. She's probably left-leaning but kudos to Navratailova. She is the only female athlete of high status who has spoken out publicly against transgenders in women's sports. I haven't heard ANY former Olympic gold medalists in women's gymnastics, women's figure skating, women's track & field or any other women's sports figures who have been so outspoken about this issue.

  6. I'll take the likely unpopular stance here that Martina Navratailova is in some way responsible for this outcome. Her open lesbianism (even if not obnoxiously so, for the time) in the 80's helped pave the way for things like the trans scourge to muscle it's way into the general societal discourse. After all, once one begins dividing people up into identity groups based upon a singular characteristic, for the sake of using that trait as cat's paw, further degradation of societal standards (via competition between such sub groups) is inevitable. Leftism and it's pet causes are always moving ever more leftward, and those who were once smugly victorious over forcing their acceptance on the rest of us while riding that beast end up having it turn on them when a newer, shinier group of “the oppressed™” shows up and decides to claim the title. A functional society will – whether one likes it or not – impose some (occasionally unpleasant) limits to make life palatable for the majority. Failing to follow that course leads to what we have now, a tyranny of the various and sundry minorities who all wish to force carve outs for whatever their particular “thing” may be. Each time that ratchet moves forward a notch, someone else gets their toes stepped on. Which I guess is a fancy way of saying “welcome to the same place straight white men have been for decades, toots”. Don't like it? Tough shit, you had a hand in creating this monster, so suck it up just like the rest of us have been forced to while stuff like feminism, affirmative action, gay marriage and DEI have disgusted and disenfranchised us in various ways small or large. This is the end result of destroying freedom of association, which also means the freedom not to associate. If she wants a return to some more sensible limits being imposed, it's going to mean that some level of discrimination (as it has come to be defined for socio-political purposes) will be necessary. How far do we roll things back? Oh, only as far as is needed not to inconvenience you personally? Heh, see the problem yet? Setting and abiding by societal standards sounds good until it gores your ox, right? All I can say is good luck, you're going to need it.
