Steve Martin playing straight man to John Candy. Misadventures throughout the Midwest. And a Thanksgiving movie to boot. Shows the depth of acting that the is hallmark of both men.

I like the part where they're on the Greyhound bus and John Candy says “we should sing.” Martin starts singing “Three coins in a fountain” and everyone looks at him like he's a freak.

The first time I watched the movie I couldn't believe how great an actor Steve Martin had become. If this one doesn't “tug at your heartstrings” then you are one tough cookie! I'm surprise Hallmark hasn't “remade” it!

Part of that movie, I think the freeway problem, was shot at NAS Lemoore, on ca198. It took about two weeks; it was during one of the hotter Septembers that we had in the Central Valley. They laid snow everywhere along the highway. It was very interesting to drive through the area during the day.Heltau
