I was driving a C60 Stake Body Truck to the tobacco markets at 8. No, I couldn't reach the pedals…that's a story for another day. This sheriff is utter BS. Not only was I riding my bike to school at 8, during the summers and fall I was also driving tractors and working in the tobacco fields at the same age. No, not all day, but enough to know I prefer mechanization over manual labor all day. LOL

The Gutlessness,, Do they not know about the children who took their handful of possessions and went to the docks and sailed away to come Here? If we were back to the Wagon train Days, the government, rather than try to protect the settlers along the way would just stop them from heading West.

in high school at fourteen to 18 i walked home about four to five miles often.-but sometimes i waited at the library until 6 p.m. when my dad picked me up. [it made sense often to wait for my dad because when i walked home at 3:15 i made it home around 5 p.m. anyway and by that time i was too tired to do homework.]

Hell, EVERY family when I was growing up would have been in trouble. We were 'free range' at age 9!!!

Glad I grew up when I did, glad I don't have young kids now. Walking home from school was not uncommon, even in 1st grade (that was about 3/4 mile). Walking a couple of miles home when in jr high was not uncommon. HS however was about 5 miles. Not an overly long distance but certainly a time-sucker. Did it when I had to but not often … but by HS, cars of some sort were available. Nothing Trump will be able to do will stop this level madness: “It's for the children” and mommies will fall all over themselves to keep the kiddies from growing up

14 years old, hitchhiked or walked to my PT job after school then hitchhiked home about 15 miles or so. Nobody batted an eye. I made about $20 a week (before tax) and thought I was rich. Good times!

I think they want to make the kids and parents fearful and instill the belief that .gov is there to protect them.Which is utter BS.
