Went and voted earlier this week. I am generally a stickler for voting ‘on the day’, but after reading a bunch of comments and stuff about shenanigans on November 5, decided to go ahead and get it done.
Our central location had a line out the door when I got there and it was still out the door when I left. And this was in the middle of the morning.
One woman came back in looking for her daughter, who was taking her time. Which was fine except then she started talking about how she told her to vote, yadda yadda. She didn’t mention names or parties but I looked at her right in the eye and told her she was walking close to the line of electioneering in a no-electioneering zone (there’s a big ol’ sign right there) and she needed to shut it. Much to my surprise, she did.
In any case, my vote is in. I double checked it on the screen and took the time to double check the printout as well, which is all I can do.
The ladies working were impressed that my physical signature actually matches my ‘finger on the screen’ signature. I guess that’s the beauty part of having a crappy signature–at least it is consistent.
Now the wait begins!
