Wind power taking another hit–YAY!

I think offshore windmills farms are abhorrent.  As President Trump said in his interview with Joe Rogan, they are driving whales crazy but environmentalists don’t seem to care (I’m paraphrasing).

And when they explode, it’s catastrophic.

The company that makes the windmill blades has taken a well-deserved financial hit.  And they are finding more problems with the ones still in place.  Which is another $700 million.  However, considering the subsidies they got from US taxpayers, it’s just monopoly money to them.

And the US governmental agency that oversees this travesty is going to allow some construction after “sufficient risk analysis has been performed and mitigation measures are adopted.”  But the company claims that they are moving forward towards new construction and blade replacement.

There is one group that is actively working to put a stop to this project:

ACK for Whales, said they’re “shocked and truly disturbed” that Vineyard Wind is claiming it will soon resume construction.

“The permitting for this project has been recklessly approved from the very beginning, and the project has already exhibited an enormous failure that does not appear to have been thoroughly addressed. A blade explosion, from which we are still seeing the damage, was not even considered in Vineyard Wind’s Construction and Operations Plan,” the ACK for Whales members wrote.

Hopefully after this clusterbomb, the town of Nantucket will take a walk and the project will be completely shut down.

  1. Pipeline, power line and highway projects are routinely prohibited if a certain breed of owl, lizard or fish may possibly be inconvenienced. Somehow “green” projects don't have that problem.

  2. Not always. In the 90s they wanted to put a wind farm outside of Pahrump, Nevada, the environmental impact statement for the powerl lines was a million dollars a mile. That wasn't anything beyond the impact statement.Additionally, there was a group of old hippies that showed up trying to block it every step of the way. They called themselves C.A.V.E. (committee against virtually everything).

  4. I wanted to see the tape of the blade failure. Those should be seen over and over. Like how much energy it takes to make batteries. Clean energy my ass.

  5. Then consider that Nantucket was at one time the home of a major energy industry called commercial whaling! Some of my Quaker relatives owned a whaling ship!
