i have always had a respect for the founding fathers and John Locke –Without any preference for one or the other.

I have a few prefences. Adams famously passed the Alien and Sedition act to jail his political opponents that spoke out against him. Hamilton wanted the Federal government in debt to the banks (to be fair, he wanted that so they would have a vested interest in keeping the feds from collapsing). So, there were a few I didn't care for as much as others.

i guess if i had to choose the best would be the author of the USA Constitution James Madison, and as a close second Thomas Jefferson

Ben. On the hundred, he looks to be a bit happier than all the rest of ‘em. Probabaly because he was smart enough to never become President.
