 In addition to firing service members who did not want, for religious or other reasons, to receive an untested shot, the DoD was apparently just leaving the folks who DID take the shot out to dry when they suffered ill effects.  Like debilitating heart trouble.

Army Specialist Karoline Stancik got the Moderna shot in March 2021.  Despite the fact that she had serious health problems afterwards, she got the second shot in April 2021.

She was basically fired (removed from active duty) in April 2022 which meant no medical benefits and no job/income.  And continuing serious health problems.

A year and a half later, the Army has said that her injuries are service related and admitted that her condition could be related to the mRNA shots (it was weasel-worded but in there). So now she’s getting a pacemaker and military benefits (such as they are).

Which is pretty huge thing and might be part of the camel’s nose under the tent as far as getting people, service members or not, some financial relief for their compliance injuries.
