Fun Movie Friday–Life of Brian

 Another classic Python movie.

My understanding is that a lot of this scene was improvised.
And this was a joke in the 70’s…

  1. Great movie.Entire movie is “quotable.” As head photographer for a college newspaper, I was soooooooooooooooooooo close to getting a byline credit for “Naughtious Maximus”.

  2. I was taking Latin at a Catholic high school when this came out. Our teacher had us go through the entire scene of “Romans go home” analyzing the Latin. Of course the Catholic Church told everyone NOT to watch the film…that's how he knew we all had seen it. Truly an outstanding film that does a great job of ridiculing everything, most especially dogmatic organized religion.

  3. I went to see it on a Sunday night with a buddy and fellow Python fan. Now the theatre had been picketed every night by a group from St Helen the Humourless or some other church (I am easily confused) but their dogma did not allow picketing on Sundays. So they called in a bomb scare instead! Some fun, great movie and THe People Front of Judea is still the enemy!

  4. Matthew— Yes it is! To bad you didn’t get the byline…Anon—They were pretty torqued about the whole thing. It was more a look at people who have to be followers though.Gerry—I thought that was the Judean People’s Front!NFO—Classic Python.
