When I was 4 or so, my grandparents would come out to California for a visit every summer for several weeks. Usually, they'd go visit “Joe and Paul” in San Gabriel. One of them was my grandmother's cousin's son.The story went that both Joe and Paul were divorced and their wives took everything. They couldn't afford to live in L.A. alone, so they became roommates.At some point, there was a home invasion robbery and Joe was tied up and killed.Years later I learned through my sister that Joe and Paul were gay pedophiles. When I learned that, I turned to my mom and said, “it wasn't a home invasion robbery.”Wonder how many kids that “home invasion robbery” saved.
