Well that's a sea-change

St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame Indiana has reversed its newly revised policy that would have allowed men who are masquerading as women to enroll (St. Mary’s is an all girls school).  Of course they did it without seeking input from their community and got a backlash that they weren’t expecting.

Apparently the alums as well as students didn’t like the revised policy (and for once a Board of Trustees listened).

“Moreover, we clearly underestimated our community’s genuine desire to be engaged in the process of shaping a policy of such significance.”

“As this last month unfolded, we lost people’s trust and unintentionally created division where we had hoped for unity. For this, we are deeply sorry.”

They were just following along with the crowd, like much of academia does.  But because they listened, they’re not going to follow other schools down the drain.

Good to see that!
