I guess the thought of leaving $800 million on the table was just a bit too much. Or maybe the faculty who were going to lose out on pay raises kicked up a fuss.
So 43 of the 130 DEI employees will be have their jobs changed to student service of ALL students.
And diversity statements will be removed from the application process.
And the top students graduating from Wisconsin high schools will be automatically accepted into UW.
Of course Dem Gov Tony Evers was torqued that the Board of Regents re-thought its position.
‘I disagree with the regents’ decision today. I am disappointed and frustrated with this result, this proposal, and the process that led up to this point,’ Evers said.
‘It is also my expectation that every individual who promised in this process that the important work of building diversity, equity, and inclusion and making sure our campuses are welcoming and work for everyone would not be diminished by this action will be working in earnest to make good on that commitment. And I’m going to make damn sure that they do.’
Definitely a step in the right direction, especially if it pisses the Dems/socialists off that much.
