Indiana University (again) is in a pickle (again).  The Indiana legislature passed a law that does not allow taxpayer funding for the Kinsey Institute (incorporated into IU in 2016).

Allow me to refresh you on Kinsey.  He was one of  the first academics to try to normalize pedophilia and sexualize children (IMO). Please note that the report referenced was written in 1948.

Former IU Professor Alfred Kinsey is considered the “father of the sexual revolution” and has faced criticism for collecting data from pedophiles and rapists.

The first report, “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male,” documented the supposed sexual activity of hundreds of children, including the rape of 196 boys whom he claimed experienced orgasm. Kinsey gathered the data from the journal of a rapist, whom he falsely described as multiple sources to protect the man’s anonymity.

Despite some victims’ “violent convulsions,” “sobbing,” or “frightened” responses, Kinsey recorded the information as “pre-adolescent sex play” and claimed they enjoyed the experience. In another passage citing observations by “other boys or older adults,” Kinsey (pictured) provided explicit descriptions of supposed orgasm in infants.

Here’s some verbiage from IU’s Provost.  Doesn’t sound like they are going to change a thing and see if they can get away with it (again, IMO).  They’re going to try an end-run by setting it up as a foundation, it looks like to me. (although one Kentucky judge has rules that a foundation is still part of the university and is subject to open records requests, etc.).

While the Kinsey Institute does not receive direct appropriations, the new legislation requires that the university also ensure that no state funds are indirectly used to support the Kinsey Institute. A limited number of the Institute’s operational functions have historically been supported by the university’s general fund, which may have indirectly included state dollars. Pending Board of Trustees approval, Indiana University would establish a nonprofit entity to separately fund and manage these limited functions. The Kinsey Institute, and the functions not led by the new nonprofit entity, would continue to operate at Indiana University. In compliance with state law, the new nonprofit entity would not receive any state appropriations.

It is the university’s intention that all current and future research, scholarship, and educational initiatives led by faculty and staff will continue as part of the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University. Faculty will maintain their appointments and affiliation with the Kinsey Institute. Current Kinsey Institute faculty and staff will remain IU employees.

IU Trustees tabled a discussion on creating a new entity for the institute.  Gotta hold on to that perv cred for as long as possible.

  1. Beg to differ. Kinsey was a real researcher, and the Institute -long housed in Jordan Hall ( the biology department at IU)- did good science for many decades. Very low key, low profile. At inception, there were no verifiable, documented studies in human sexuality using the scientific method- just rumor and myth. Kinsey changed that, and everyone benefited. Like the Body Farm at Tennessee, the Kinsey Institute has always been a target for legislators looking for cheap shots and sensation. That said, the Institute has indeed gone woke in the past 20 years or so. It has embraced the various mental illnesses of our times, and has become a rather large organization. As an independent institute housed in an academic center, it made sense as long as it paid its own way. As an official activity of the university itself, supported by tax dollars, it does not. The Indiana legislature got it right.

  2. When I was active in psych (medicine) and in behavioral therapy our department would get updates and articles and journal summaries from the Kinsey Institute. It was like reading the old Hustler magazine reader commentaries and feedback, pure garbage and pervasion. I certainly did not use any of their suggestions and therapies when treating patients with sexual pathologies, like giving over-sweetened candy to diabetics with uncontrolled blood glucose over 800 mg/dl. Reading anything from them was like rubber necking a bad vehicle accident, ya wanted to see how low and perverse level they could achieve…I don't see any reason to keep the institute alive. It has been a wretched, perverted, and unreliable and unscientific boondoggle.
