Birds: When I went to college the duck was known as an Old Squaw (Clangula hyemalis). Then one day it magically became the Long Tail Duck.I assume that was because someone thought female Native Americans were offended.I guess nobody asked the Pintail ducks if they felt victims of cultural exploitation.

I always looked forward to the new birding books coming out, the new pictures or artwork & area range maps , I won't be buying anymore.
