the CDC needs to stay in its lane (again)

The CDC has sent out a new survey to middle and high school students regarding smoking.  This year, they decided to ask about transgenderism.  They’ve been moving towards this question for a couple of years, starting in 2020 when they decided to ask about sexual orientation.

In 2020, changes were made to include a question asking if any students identified as gay, lesbian, bisexual or “something else,”

This year’s survey asks (IMO in a very leading way considering this survey is for middle and high school students):

“Some people describe themselves as transgender and/or nonbinary when the way they think or feel about their gender is different from their sex assigned at birth,” the survey reads. “Do you identify as transgender and/or nonbinary?”

The CDC, like the EPA (now coming for small planes since they use 100LL), have serious cases of mission creep.  And they’ve been allowed to or encouraged (like Obama telling the CDC to pursue the idea of gun violence as a public health issue).

Congress needs to start doing its job of putting the brakes on these executive departments.  Defunding programs is a great way to start.

  1. Congress doesn't give two shits about any of that. Too busy doing Important Things. Congress won't do anything to reign in government.

  2. Another mission creep. I attend a wound care clinic due to a persistent open wound on my left ankle that after five years will not close. I was given a survey last week with the header from CDC and the survey was about falls and if we had any in the last year. I asked the receptionist had the CDC changed their nomenclature to Center for Falling, Feeling Sad and lastly Disease Control? The last three of the survey questions pertained to feelings of sadness, lonesome and any suicidal thoughts. If I am falling and you are concerned about that, why the sudden shift to a psychological conditions? It was a pure psychological profile questionnaire I used to request when I worked as a behavioral therapist and psych nurse. I refused to answer the questions. The nurse manager of the wound care clinic was called and said I needed to fill it out as it was required by the CDC… yeah, still not doing it. She stated because I occasionally used a cane I was a fall risk. I use a cane because besides the wound, I have a mild case of MS and I become wobbly every once in a while. I was told I needed to wear a yellow band beside the patient ID band I had to wear while there. I refused that too… They finally backed off knowing I am a stubborn, ornery old bastard as it denotes on a bumper sticker on my truck. I am Legend!

  3. Looks like EVERY department is pulling out all the stops to put as many BS regs in effect as they can before 2025…

  4. It's been many decades since Congress actually had any say in how this country is run. We are no longer a republic or even a democracy. We are run by a bureaucracy, unelected and unaccountable. They decide they are experts and then they decide how to run the country. Congress, House of Reps, even the presidency is all window dressing and theater.

And that’s why they need to go. Congress ceded too much power to the Executive branch by passing crap and unclear laws.
