This is probably a rerun, but Joe over at Fat in Indiana put up a small clip a couple of days ago. This is one of my top five movies, ever. I know all of the speeches, down to verbal inflection. I have probably seen it upwards of 200 times. Frickin’ brilliant from start to finish. Peter Boyle had all of 6 or 7 spoken lines and managed to pull off all of The Creature’s emotions perfectly. It’s my understanding that Gene Wilder had to fight for the dance scene.
I now present to you, some favorite scenes. Of course I love the whole thing so it was hard to pare them down to a few. They are not in order as they are shown in the movie.
It was years before I knew this was Gene Hackman.
My mom’s favorite scene. I always laugh.
