The good–the former superintendent (Scott Ziegler) of the Loudoun County school district (you know, the one that covered up rape because the rapist was wearing a skirt, allowing another rape), was found guilty of retaliating against/firing a teacher who, when, subpoenaed, gave testimony about non-related issues with sexual assault.
The weird–the article mentions that Ziegler was wearing earrings and had his nails painted in court.
And the bad–the teacher who was retaliated against described some other pretty disturbing things. She was a special ed teacher who was being repeatedly assaulted by a student.
Prosecutors laid out a devastating timeline of retaliation against Brooks, who was trying to get administrators to do something about the fact that a student with intellectual disabilities was grabbing the genitals of her and her teaching assistant Laurie Vandermeulen dozens of times a day, while making crude motions with his tongue. Administrators offered the educators a piece of cardboard called “no-no hands,” and told them to hold it in front of their groins. They also offered to buy them dog groomer aprons to wear to “slow down penetration,” they said.
This school’s district’s ‘administration’ is completely FUBAR. The former superintendent still has one more trial to go.
His false statement at a school board meeting that there had been no sexual assaults in LCPS restrooms–part of a screed denigrating parents who were concerned about a transgender policy being discussed–when in fact he knew that a skirt-wearing boy had anally raped a ninth grader in the girls bathroom just weeks prior.
I can’t imagine why anyone would voluntarily send their children to any school in this district. And these are the folks that got caught–what about this happening in other districts where they haven’t been?
