Based, albeit loosely, on the real Cannonball run (one time someone did use an ambulance for example), it’s my thought that it was a great time to party, drive, and drink for some of the biggest stars of the time. There were so many that they just did the credits in alphabetical order.
And they brought us along for the ride.
Great movie. And in response to your comment regarding Miss Barbeau's assets: Yes.

Any time Adrienne Barbeau's breasts are displayed in a movie they should get top billing! They could put John Wayne in the starring role and it would be AB's boobs I am looking and rooting for!Full disclosure, I own the DVD and get to be entranced by the charms when ever I want. Same with Escape from New York…

I had a friend that raced in the real Cannonball twice, (once in the famous Polish Racing Team van, once in a Lotus Esprit) and is seen twice in the movie.Favorite Gumball rally line; What's behind me is not important.
