Fun Movie Friday

Introducing a new feature–Fun Movie Friday.  Think of it as brain sorbet to clear your mental palate so you can enjoy your weekend.  Rest assured that I will do my best to stay away from chick flicks (not my favs anyway).

This week’s movie is Down Periscope.  Starring Kelsey Grammer, Rob Schneider, and Bruce Dern (who has played a smarmy bad guy for his whole acting career).

The whole cast looks like it’s having a good time and it’s your basic–misfits make good, feel good at the end kind of flick.  Something along the lines of ‘Stripes’ but for the Navy.

The premise is a war game with a 1950’s diesel sub crewed by misfits going up against the modern nuclear navy.  The stakes–Kelsey Grammer’s Tom Dodge and his future in the Navy.

Some favorite scenes:

ETA for Peaowed:

And because I mentioned Stripes

And just because…  a link to the beginning of the mud wrestling scene.
