Oberlin College–you know, the college whose Dean of Students aided and abetted slander and started a reign of terror against a five generation staple of the community for having the audacity to not want their goods to be shoplifted–yeah, that Oberlin College.
Well, they ended up having to pay something along the lines of $33 million dollars for their hubris (plus $3MM in interest). I’m guessing they didn’t think much about it, because they thought their insurance companies would cover it.
Nope–the insurances companies say that because they caused the lawsuit through their actions (and it’s proven in a court of law), that it’s not defamation and they aren’t paying.
And now Oberlin is taking their insurance companies to court. Spending even more money. And I don’t think they have a chance in hell of winning or if, on the outside chance they do, they will be dropped like hot rocks and no one will work with them.
Not real bright, those Oberlin administrators…..
