Windmills are a money suck/nuclear is stepping up

Up to 30% of Siemens Gamesa’s windmills have faulty parts.  Right now they are saying that it’s going to be years and over 1.09 billion euros (yep, that’s with a ‘b’) in cost.

It’s all over the place, old and new turbines that are effected.  According to the President and CEO of Siemens Energy, a lot of problems had been ‘swept under the rug’.

Considering the fact that windmills have a life of twenty years, max, they might be end-of-life before they can be fixed.

On the flip side, Sweden is moving away from unstable ‘green’ energy such as windmills and solar panels and is going with nuclear.

In a statement announcing the new policy in the Swedish Parliament, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson warned that the Scandinavian nation needs “a stable energy system.”

Svantesson asserted that wind and solar power are too “unstable” to meet the nation’s energy requirements.

Instead, the Swedish Government is shifting back to nuclear power and has ditched its targets for a “100% renewable energy” supply.

Those folks in Sweden are talking sense again.

  1. You can run a wind turbine till the bearings melt and it won't produce enough Joules of energy to make up for all the energy expended in mining, creating, installing and maintaining it. They will ALWAYS create a net energy loss.

  2. You ONLY GET QUALITY when the market is allowed to apply the appropriate pressures from the collective/individual choices of its players. When the government steps in a subsidizes, regulates, incentivizes, or otherwise manipulates the market (even through easy credit from its criminal central bank), EVERYONE LOSES. A manufacturer who can ONLY sell an item to someone who can afford it, is forced to improve quality, durability, etc. and lower cost. When the government FORCES everyone to buy something (either through mandates or simply THEFT of their incomes to pay for it via government contract), the manufacturer has ZERO incentive to care one bit. Siemens has been a government parasite for decades now, from trains to windmills. No shock that this is a complete failure. Had things been allowed to function in a free market, nobody would have dismantled their current energy system until they were SURE that the alternative would work reliably. Thank god for the WEF and the destruction of Western Civilization…right?

  3. America has had the benefit of watching Europe do stupid green experiments for the past 25 years and despite being able to see how disastrous it is, want to go full speed ahead here with the crap. It's a conIt's a scamIt's all about control.

  4. Another factor that is a negative on environmental health is the damage wind mills do to birds and beneficial insects. Also large scale solar instillations take potential food production out of use and they cause added heat in their vicinity. I wonder if anyone thought to study how much total roof coverage of buildings affects the power usage for air conditioning!
