When woke is losing the Academy

The Academy of Motion Pictures has decreed that any movie being put forth for a Best Oscar picture (are those still a thing?) must meet specific criteria for diversity.

Starting with the March 2024 awards, movies will not be considered for a Best Picture nomination unless they feature a lead or significant supporting character from an “underrepresented racial or ethnic group,” have a main storyline that focuses on an underrepresented group, or at least 30% of the cast comes from two or more underrepresented groups (women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ or the disabled).

But now that the diversity monster is going to affect The Art, then the stupid that has been coming out of Hollywood for the rest of us is now coming home to roost.  And now the Artistes are up in arms.

“It’s completely ridiculous,” one director fumed to The Post. “I’m for diversity, but to make you cast certain types of people if you want to get nominated? That makes the whole process contrived. The person who is right for the part should get the part. Why should you be limited in your choices? But it’s the world we’re in. This is crazy.”

Oh I dunno, like being able to hire the right person for the job regardless of skin tone or chromosomes??  Wow, what a concept!  Businesses everywhere have been laboring under this type of crap for years and Hollywood has been applauding it pour les outres

I think the Academy has just made itself as obsolete to its membership as it has to the rest of us.  Probably movies will start getting made to meet a vision, rather than the new criteria.

Get Woke, Go Broke.

  2. I once left a job interview “harshly” at a FEDEX facility when they went down the diversity path. The job was for in-house maintenance of their handling systems. When they asked if I would consider race, gender, sexual orientation, blah blah blah when putting together a special project team, I was not going to lie to get a job and knew I wasn't going to be hired so I just let 'em have it. I told them I have always chosen team members based on qualifications, demonstrated abilities, and personal responsibility for tasks and assignments. I stood up and told them “if you want someone to keep your systems in top condition, I am your guy. If you want someone to play the P.C. game, find another candidate. Good day!” They would not even look at me. I picked up my portfolio, and walked out. FUCK 'EM!

  4. I think I have picked the Best Picture and Best Actor or Actress over the last 5 or 6 years without going to any movies at all.Pick the one with the most put upon minority or woke theme and you'll get the winner every time.I will say I enjoyed Green Book as it was a great movie with excellent acting when I saw it on the telly. It checked so many boxes I knew it would win

  7. Walked out on a job I was chased for 6 months to take due to similar. Not going back to that line of work since it is all corporate. Only a handful of people know how to do what I did and most of the others are walking too. Starting a custom woodshop that opens in a week. Completely different than the previous work.
