It seems that men identifying as women are trying to rebrand themselves again. Instead of being trans or transwomen, they have decided to be ‘women +’. Now I don’t think that women or gays or anyone needs their own month. However, when Hershey’s comes out with a man dressed as a woman as their face of women’s month and with the below happening, I find myself to be insulted.
From the above link:
In 2023, anyone can identify as a woman and demand to receive the same recognition as women who fought for their voice to be heard in 1908. This is an affront to women today and our female predecessors, and it ultimately waters down the importance of celebrations such as Women’s History Month.
…
Whatever their title, be it “Women+,” “transwoman,” or simply “biological male identifying as trans,” the message is clear and twofold: Biological males who have chosen to live as females and non-binary people should be celebrated in the same fashion as biological women. In fact, they should be celebrated even more.
What’s the plus? Plus a penis? Plus a Y chromosome? Plus musculature that comes from testosterone during puberty?
The Christian school in Vermont has been slapped down for their forfeiture of a game against a school with a male player who uses the women’s locker room. They aren’t allowed to compete in any sports now. Because it’s not enough that the school that is allowing the male on the women’s team has to do so, but other schools have to kowtow to this lunacy as well. Regardless of the safety issues of girls playing against boys.
Even Wellesley, the famous women’s school is under fire. They started allowing trans people in as long as they dressed and identified as women all of the time. But of course that’s not enough–if one of their students is gender fluid, then they are crying that they are being marginalized. And they don’t accept women who identify as men. (Bizzarro world).
The president of Wellesley actually wrote a pretty thoughtful response as to why they want to keep Wellesley as a women’s school, but I’m sure she’ll be out within a year–she’s already being called a transphobe (which I don’t get because not liking something is not the same as being afraid of it).
What does Wellesley mean by “a women’s college”? In accordance with our admission policy, Wellesley admits applicants who identify and live consistently as women, regardless of the gender they were assigned at birth. Our community includes students from a broad spectrum of racial, ethnic, geographic, socioeconomic, and religious groups. We know that the experience of living and learning as part of a diverse student body leads to better educational outcomes and helps prepare students to be the leaders, changemakers, and citizens the world so desperately needs.
It’s important that all members of this community feel seen. Some transgender male and nonbinary students whose identities have evolved during their time here say they feel excluded by the College’s use of the words “women” and “alumnae”—and feel that their individual identities are not embraced.
At the same time, many students who are committed to Wellesley’s mission as a women’s college and who identify as women have been publicly criticized for that view and have felt pressured to describe Wellesley as a historically women’s college…
