Hoping she gets fired and then fined, and then arrested

A Michigan State Marketing and Communications professor was requiring students to pay $99 to subscribe to her personal “Patriarchy Rebellion Community”.  It was actually listed as a course requirement.

Notwithstanding the fact that it’s indoctrination and that there is some question as to where the money was going, there are university policies surrounding additional course fees, which may or may not be covered by financial aid.  Some students complained and now she’s off the radar and her classes are being taught by someone else.

If this fee was covered by financial aid, like books are, and the money was going for her personal use, then she’s just gotten on the wrong side of the feds.

And hopefully there will be consequences.

  2. Plus, of course, also an academic. They just get sidelined for a month, then moved to an even less productive but higher paid position.

  3. B–Hopefully different in this case-she's an ABD adjunct with delusions of grandeur (her CV lists herself as a professor). Interestingly, one of her papers was on Information Manipulation Theory. Guessing she's using her students as guinea pigs as well as a money source.

  4. There were a few courses I took in college that the instructor had “written” the courses book and was available at the college bookstore and had to buy it. Generally the book wasn't well written, used just for the particular class/course and you never used it again or keep and would want to use later as a reference. I thought it a scam and voiced that same sentiment when we got a course survey at the end of the semester so I know I did not win hearts or endure me to a lot of self important “professors” or instructors. I didn't care.

  5. If you are dumb enough to sign up for that course, I have ZERO sympathy for you. I consider that a tax for being stupid.

  7. Cederq–Those surveys are actually important. Glad you told the truth instead of sucking up!NFO–Yep!Gerry–It looks like it's a core course for their Business School. So they don't have a choice in their major. Which makes it worse.Avraham–This is indeed a big part of the problem.
