Environmentally unfriendly windmills

Well this sounds familiar:  In Scotland, they are hooking up their windmills to diesel generators.

“During December 60 turbines at Arecleoch and 11 at Glenn App were de-energised due to a cabling fault… In order to get these turbines re-energised diesel generators were running for upwards of six hours a day,” they revealed.

“Turbines are regularly offline due to faults where they are taking energy from the grid rather than producing it, and also left operating on half power for long periods due to parts which haven’t been replaced,” they continued.

“Dirty hydraulic oil is also regularly being sprayed out across the Scottish countryside due to cracks in mechanisms. Safety standards have not improved since a worker was killed in 2017 at Kilgallioch wind farm.”

You may not have heard, but there is some thought that the dead humpback whales washing up in New Jersey are the victims of offshore windmill farms.

We already know on land that windmills are killing hundreds of thousands of flying wildlife–eagles, bats, butterflies, birds.

And of course there is the production and ‘retirement’ of these monstrosities.  Rare earth magnets coming from Chinese mines and blades piling up in landfills.

How much does it take for them to call it quits?  This increasing expensive ‘renewable’ energy pushes are destroying much more than they are saving or helping.

  3. First, thank you for what you provide here.Next, all turbines should be made using only solar or wind energy. That would put an end to the production of these things in a hurry. If baseload coal, oil, gas, and nuclear power plants are all decommissioned, there will not be enough power to manufacture wind turbines anyway.Stay safe and prepare accordingly.

  4. I agree with you and commenters. My grand son keeps talking about some kind of wind power in northern Scandinavia that work by vibration and without moving parts but I have never seen a write up. Solar is just as bad for killing wildlife in industrial size grid applications. Solar in home owner size applications with storage but sure wouldn’t run an electric stove. I follow a blogger who is off grid in Arizona desert. He has a fairly big solar set up and he has to either wait for a sunny day or start a generator to bake bread with his propane stove which has an electric igniter on the oven. New stoves, at least the kind you can buy in big box stores, can’t have pilots although you can match light the burners but not the oven.

  5. Anon–You're welcome! Glad you like what I'm writing!Avraham–Chop down with chainsaws.Other Anon–Yep. Or just get rid of the subsidies from the taxpayer. They would shut down quickly.NFO–They aren't scalable and they are worse for the environment than oil or coal.Howard–Solar is as bad, or worse, than the windmills. I think removing the pilot in the oven was a first step in getting rid of gas appliances altogether.
