B posted a picture from rural Kentucky. Here’s some more from various places we saw. It’s good to know that in some places, America is living and golden. We also saw War Memorials being maintained/shined so they could be read more easily. The town square had statues and plaques with the history of the county.
Nice trip and a really nice place. Definitely redeemed rural Kentucky for me after our last adventures there.
LOL, yeah, I wouldn't try that either…

My son lives in Ashland, KY. He joined the U.S. Navy a number of years ago, when he and his wife decided that with the loss of coal jobs, he needed to find decent work to support his wife and baby.He spent about 6.5 years in the military, then moved back to Ashland, with his wife. He quickly got a job with the city of Ashland, in their city DPW. The city loves him, he has moved up in his job, and they now have 2 beautiful girls. He went into the Navy at a bit older age than the kids just out of high school, and so was much more mature than the rest of them, surprisingly. So he was sort of the old man of his ship. He got out as a 2nd class petty officer. The military was fantastic for him, even though he did end up having to extend a bit over 8 months, in order to stay with the ship while they were in the Arabian Gulf, watching the Iranians flex their muscle. I am just grateful for the city of Ashland for hiring my son, because he had military experience, and them rewarding his maturity gained from said experience. A good thing for both the city and my son. And a really beautiful area of the country, as well.

NFO–Yeah. Looked a little scary. But the southern buffet next door was great with pecan pie to die for.pigpen51–I'm glad that your son found a place that honors his service. I'm giving props to rural Kentucky for keeping the flame alive.
