 Yep, she exists and she was indeed raped.  Her rapist is a probable illegal who is also probably her mother’s boyfriend.  The mother insists that the girl is fine.  From the article:

“The mother’s distressed defense of the rapist suggests that, a: She is also here illegally and fears deportation,” Bonilla outlined. “B: The defendant is the family’s sole source of income, c: There is a likelihood of other children in the home, d: Mom is exposed to removal of the children under dependency proceedings (failure to protect). Has there been such a filing yet and if not why not?”

The spotlight on the situation would not have shown so brightly except for the fact that some activist in Indianapolis decided to use this girl’s situation as a example and went to the IndyStar with it.  She obviously doesn’t care about the girl or her situation–she’s a tool to be used to make a sick point.

Word is that the Indiana AG is going to investigate to see if the child’s situation was reported properly to the State of Indiana.  The activist’s employer insists that it was in the timeframe required by law and there is talk of a defamation lawsuit.  I think at the very least there is a HIPAA violation–such a unique situation led reporters right to the door of the rapist.

The report filed with the state listed the rapist as 17 years old when he is actually 27  making it look like he was a minor.

It would be nice if the activist paid a legal price for her actions.
