I am of the opinion that Mitch McConnell is deliberately trying to derail the Republican momentum that is growing and he’s using (among other things) Roe v Wade to do it.
Why else would he come out and pour some gasoline on a nascent conflagration by saying that Republicans are going to pass laws on the federal level completely banning abortion?
Roe v Wade is a 10th Amendment issue and that’s why it should be reversed. The labyrinthine thinking that SCOTUS had to wend its way through to get to Roe v Wade was staggering in scope. The only other thing that comes close is John Roberts’ decision that said that Obamacare was a tax.
Aside from that, I can’t see any legislation passing anything on the federal side. This should be handled on the state level. For McConnell to say otherwise is him just trying to hold onto his power because he knows that when Conservatives (not Republicans) take the reins, he’s out like yesterday’s fish.
