It's the only way to fly

B over at Middle of the Right posted about part of our trip last weekend (and no, if it can be avoided, never stopping in outer BFE Kentucky again for fuel).  I noticed on our taxi out to leave for KY Airport 2, the only tracks on that taxiway belonged to a guy and a dog.  Good grief.

We went down to visit my sister for the weekend–she moved south a year ago and it’s been that long since I’ve seen her. We were lucky to get a nice day on Saturday which allowed for some good sightseeing as well as a stop for some southern BBQ.  It was thirty degrees warmer than Indiana which was a definite plus.

After some good times and a fantastic breakfast, we went back to the airport and took off.  My sister and her husband were jumping up and down and waving as we disappeared into the clouds (B’s IFR certainly is nice for trips like this).  And I have seen this plane take off and it is completely sexy to watch.

My sis and I agreed that there is a certain wicked cool factor to flying in for a weekend in a private plane.  It is definitely a kick.

Thanks to B for facilitating a wonderful time and helping me to stay connected to my sister–phone only works so well.

  1. Yep, flying is nice, and beats the hell out of hours and hours in a car.

  2. NFO-It's a sixteen hour drive and a three hour flight. If we went commercial, it's an eight hour flight if you include getting to the airport, etc. Plus masks on commercial flights, which I will not do.
