Lawsuit against the state of Indiana is greenlighted to move forward

A group of parents in the Fort Wayne area brought a lawsuit against the state of Indiana including the governor, the head of the state department of health, their local school board and others for disrupting their childrens’ education for the last two (and heading towards three) years.

In the state of Indiana, access to education is in the state constitution.  The parents assert (and I’m with them) that the masking, quarantines, online classes caused disruptions to the kids’ education and caused harm that will cause harm for decades.

In their school district, 3,000 students were quarantined for fewer than ten students testing positive for Covid-19.  According to the lawyer for the parent group, this means that 99.7% of the students were not in in-person classes for weeks at a time.

In my opinion, the atrocities perpetuated on the children is unfathomable considering studies done regarding the need for interaction, the importance of facial expression in communication, and living in fear.

The state of course, has been slavishly following every utterance of the CDC.  The legislature has proven itself to be useless in protecting individual rights with the Indiana GOP being in the pocket of the Chamber of Commerce (also IMO).

I’m hoping the parents win and that it sets free all of the kids.

  1. The outcome of this lawsuit….like all such lawsuits…depends far more on the political beliefs and agenda of the judge(s) involved than on the laws or factsrelated to the issue.
