Wow! Cutting edge reporting from the vaunted WSJ.
They have noticed that “Fake Reviews and Inflated Ratings are still a Problem with Amazon“.
Dang, no shit. Really?
Most of the article is behind a firewall and I honestly don’t think there’s anything hidden in there that will serve to enlighten me but one wonders if they’ve noticed that it’s a continuing problem with Chinese companies in particular–like a product will be awesome for a couple of months and get rave reviews and then all of a sudden tank because they start sending cheap replacements?
And, not to just pick on the Chinese, but did they notice the number of companies that give away products in exchange for a good review?
Or, in the publishing sections, the number of unverified purchasers slamming books that the reviewer never read, but heard about on whatever reddit channels they subscribe to?
I’m so glad that they are on the case.
Next out from the Wall Street Journal–water is wet, the sky is blue, and grass is green (especially now that it’s legal in so many states).
