Apparently mask dependence/masks as magical talismans/binkies has been around for a while

The term ‘mask dependency’ was coined in 2009 by a Yuzu Kikumoto, a Japanese counselor who wrote a paper on it and who also started a counseling service in 2006 to help people with their mask addictions.

The reason for mask dependency, he said, is a feeling of insecurity in public, exacerbated by the proliferation of social media. Many who use social media frequently have become more self-conscious and crave the praise and approval of others. Those who lack such affirmation may then suffer from a deeper sense of inferiority, he added.

All of this is quite interesting in the light of people using Asia as an example of the normalization of masking.  Mr. Kikumoto further says:

“The mask acts as a security blanket, and people with this addiction cannot talk to people without wearing a face mask. And society’s acceptance of interactions behind masks perpetuates such a dependency,”

Since it’s pretty much the liberals who are manifesting this illness, it juxtaposes with a study that indicates that liberals really are psychotic as well as the study that indicates that over 50% of liberal women under 30 have some kind of mental health issue (say hello to Karen).

So all in all, not surprising as long as they don’t try to drag us onto their crazy bus with them.
