Here in Indiana only 30% of people eligible in the 55-59 age category have either signed up or have received a Covid injection. Gov Sports Metaphor and his sidekick Dr Fauci SockPuppet seem to be very perplexed about this (never mind that the Gov did all of the ducking and weaving he could to avoid getting in that line himself) especially since over half of the folks 60-69 (56%) had signed up or have gotten a jab or two.
What they seem to forget is the 50-59 age group are mainly Gen X’ers (and tail end of the Baby Boomers). X’ers don’t trust them, there’s really nothing they can do to force trust. They read, they analyze (they’re the last generation that was actually taught critical thinking), and they come to their own conclusions. With exceptions, they don’t have fully formed comorbidities that would put them at extreme risk of death from the Wu-Flu so a shot isn’t that important to them.
Some are already asking Gen X to save the world from the cancel culture. It might be they can serve as examples for independent thought as well, with the help from those generations before them, as well as the memory of generations gone.
As a side bet, I’m guessing that the 45-49 group will be even lower in signing up. And any group lower in age will have a higher sign up than the 70+ crowd.
