So Merck, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, is taking a punt on creating a vaccine. Why? Because it’s better for the patient to get the Wuhan virus and develop real antibodies.
They’re going with therapeutics instead–drugs designed to keep respiratory distress from killing people.
Merck’s going the antiviral route–it’ll probably be somewhat like Tamiflu and be something that shortens the time and severity of symptoms.
