Buh-Bye Kohls

Well, the cancel culture is trying to take out the My Pillow guy.  Kohls, Wayfair, Bed, Bath and Beyond and others are cutting ties, mostly likely due to Mike Lindell’s support of President Trump.

I was already torqued at Kohls when they were one of the first retailers to jump on the mask bandwagon.  The ‘social distancing’ measures they put into place in their stores was laughable.  Nothing says social distance like closing down one bank of registers and an entrance to force everyone to stand in line at one end of the store as well as enter and exit through one door.

So I’m done.  I closed my credit card and my kohls.com shopping portal.  The nice Indian lady in Kohls’ credit card outsource center helped me–nothing like outsourcing when folks are begging for jobs here in the US.

Mixing politics with pillows is just a dumb business move and I try not to do business with stupid when possible.

Nothing says virtue signal like forcing people to have a bad night’s sleep.

  1. Why do stores and other retailers do that. They need to stay out of politics. I love Kohls. I absolutely hate shopping for clothes and household items, so, I sit at my keyboard and order through Kohls website and it usually shows up at my door a couple days later. If I have issues, their return department is awesome. They also take amazon returns. WHY can they not leave politics out of business?? I will probably grudgingly do as you have done, but I hate to do it as I love not dealing with shopping in person and the discounts in the mailbox. But, I also like sending the message that they did wrong, and no better way than hitting them in the pocket book.

  2. Rich–not sure why. Maybe they continue to think that we'll still shop with them. After all, they've killed off the small businesses, so who's left? I liked Kohls, despite their shortcomings, due to the reasons you mention. I did my twice a year summer and winter shopping with them, almost exclusively. But they hit my last nerve. On a different note, I bought a MyPillow directly from the website and used it last night. I was actually impressed!

  3. I bought two of the my pillows. I really like them. Comfortable and I don't need to reposition them at night. They actually stay cool as well. One of the few products that actually lived up to the ads. I like the founder's ideals as well. As far as Kohls, I will probably replace them with Amazon. I absolutely hate buying clothes, and do it online to actually find my size without digging through bins. Not being a fashion model, I usually just order Jeans and xlt shirts, so no need to try them on. Best part, if they don't fit, I can return them at Kohls. They don't get the profit of the sale, and I can return easily in person and get credited. Good for me, not so much for Kohls. 🙂

  4. I hate buying clothes too. I've got a Staples where I can drop off Amazon returns and will use that. Kohls was good because you could get a coupon. It just sucks all the way around.

  5. I wasn't aware staples did amazon returns. There is one in the same strip mall Kohls is in.

  6. Our Staples also serves as a UPS stop. I don't know if it's all of them. But worth checking out!
