The Great Purge has begun. Deplatforming, canceling, deleting from all of the major platforms. Google and Apple have taken Parler out of their app stores (much like they did to Gab a while back) but in a new twist, Amazon, who was being paid to host Parler, is taking it off their server as well (at the behest of Amazon employees).
Mozilla, whose website states that it: “works to ensure the internet remains a public resource that is open and accessible to us all.” is leading the calls for censoring.
Surprisingly enough, the ACLU is actually at least giving a pro-forma condemnation of these actions. It was kind of a backslap condemnation–their statement seems to think that it’s okay to censor President Trump, but they don’t want minority groups censored. So their warnings are still as leftist as they have come to be.
President Trump can turn his press team or Fox News to communicate with the public, but others – like many Black, Brown, and LGTBQ activists who have been censored by social media companies – will not have that luxury. It is our hope that these companies will apply their rules transparently to everyone.”
Not only that, but it looks like the Senate is going to try an impeachment-after-the-fact because they are terrified of a 2024 Trump. It’s being lead by McConnell. You know, the guy who is the very modern model of a disgusting swamp critter.
They are going to try to burn Trump down and, by proxy, all of us who share the values he’s shown, and salt the earth. They don’t realize that it’s going to make our resolve stronger.
We’ve been shown that we can no longer rely on the checks and balances put in place by the Founding Fathers. They’ve been corrupted. We can’t count on the new broadsheets known as social media to allow us to say our piece so we have to create our own. Good and about time, yes, but it just emphasizes the split in this country, Soon it’ll be ‘do you Facebook or Gab’ to figure out where someone stands.
We’re up against the wall. What do we do from here?
