American or Un-American

Today is Labor Day.  Unlike a lot of folks, I have to work.  Got invited to a cookout. Upon being told I had to work, the person commented “That’s Communism.”  However, considering the history of Labor Day, wouldn’t that be just the opposite?

Philosophical construction aside, still sucks to miss some tasty beef on a bun.

  1. I was also invited to a barbecue cookout. This one was organized by our synagogue Sisterhood, of which my wife is the past president. And I was told (by my wife) that I had to work — manning the barbecue grill. This would normally be Communism, except that I had agreed in advance with the current Sisterhood president to do it, I enjoy doing it, and I get a free meal in the process.Gotta go set up the grill.Buon Appetito!!

  2. Typical university: three-day weekends screw up the class schedule. Also, I had a computer crash and lost your last email. Please write.
