So what's the point of having a secure/sterile area at the airport??

The TSA now wants to sample people’s drinks that they bought BEHIND the Groping Curtain.  This makes absolutely no sense unless they are admitting by proxy that they are unable to maintain a secure area. 

One would think that it would make more sense to concentrate on cargo, foodstuffs coming into the ‘secure’ part of the airport, etc. than to snag a highly overpriced beverage from already weary and violated travelers, especially without reimbursing them for the cost of the drink (did I mention how overpriced those things are??).

One tin-foil hat idea also occurs–random DNA collection without permission since they’ve already established that Fourth Amendment rights are abrogated at the entrance to the airport.

    I've serviced equipment at the bars and snack stands in several airports for years. The only differences after TSA showed up was a new gate across the entrance to the service vehicle parking, and SOMETIMES my truck would be searched. Not once did they question the explosive or dangerous materials and tools I use. Most times I wasn't even questioned, my uniform and truck apparently made me 'authorized'.

    If you few as much as I do, you'd KNOW the sterile area ISN'T… LOTS of Muslims not only running control points, but lots of Muslims with SIDA badges…

    Borepatch–I think you're insulting the Stooges. They could do this gig WAY better than it's being handled.Don–exactly. But the TSA would have to go up against the other workers in order to really make things secure and it's easier to hassle passengers who are just coming through and who they won't see every day. They know their 'sterile area' is crap. In 2007 they found over 100 workers with fake SIDA badges at O'Hare. 54 of the workers were illegal and they only recovered 34 of the badges.NFO–Oh yeah. See above. They claimed that the illegals were from Mexico and Guatemala, but truly, how would you know??
