On the TSA blog there is a lame attempt to denigrate and minimize Jonathan Corbett’s finding that the backscatter machines are basically just big boondoggles. The blogpost even refuses to name him, calling him ‘some guy’ and then launches into a paragraph that doesn’t address the issue and a second paragraph that basically goes into a blah blah blah about how this is only one of eleventy-million ways the TSA claims to be making travel safer.
I know it’s the TSA’s blog and, as such, represents the mental level of most TSA screeners, but seriously, do they really think that anyone would fall for their fifth grade level crap?? They might as well have just posted that his mom dresses him funny….
ETA: Via Advice Goddess: Apparently the TSA is aware that their juvenile tactics will be ineffective, so they are contacting the media and are ‘strongly cautioning’ them not to cover Corbett’s story. I still have my checkbook ready for his defense fund because you all know as well as I do what their next move will be.
