Argh…

Let’s just say that it’s a good thing that if I had a superpower, it’s not making people burst into flames.

That is all.

  4. Rant on.Actually had one 'senior' faculty member tell me that I need to treat the faculty like children to get them to do things and he's right. There are 42 of them, however, and none of them feel that decades of actual experience in a profession count for anything. I've begun to lose my faith in higher education as an institution because of these self-important snowflakes.Rant off.

  6. Dann, there are some faculty who are truly dedicated to the students. Those seem to be the ones who actually worked outside of academe (and not as a waiter/waitress during grad school either). It might just be the place where I am now or something about their particular discipline(s) that makes them particularly small people. Let's just say that I've never had to go to human resources in 20 years of my career but after getting screamed at for doing my job (the second time, mind) I was forced to take action. They suck and it's affected my whole attitude about my career path, which sucks too.
