Stewards….

There are some times when we’re called upon to be sheepdogs or stewards.  It might be for a few days, a few hours, or a few weeks.    It might be for years.  Stepping up is not a quality that all homo sapiens have, but I like to think that all humans do.

One of the hardest parts is recognizing the ephemeral nature of the relationship between the steward and those being safeguarded.  Knowing that, as the person, we have to be above self and have to look at the larger picture and the ultimate well being of those that came to be in our charge.  It’s not easy, but then Right never is the easy road or everyone would do it all the time.

Still leaves a place in your heart that hurts, even with the certainty and calm that go with doing the right thing, that go with being a steward and a human.

  1. Sure is.My kids roll their eyes at me when they catch me looking at pictures of them when they were young. If they're lucky, some day they'll understand.

  3. BP–we have critters and not kids so your load is much more–you have to make a fully-realized human too and then have to trust that you did what you could to make it so.La–thanks! Better. Thanks for the laugh this morning even though the subject was not-so-much, speaking of fully-realized humans. If we don't find the absurdity in life, then what's the point of living? Couldn't find the youtube link I wanted, darn it.
