I started to learn how to weld today. I’ve blacksmithed before so hot metal is not really an issue but I did find out the difference in male skin vs. female skin. Himself (who is a great teacher, BTW) welds without gloves. I had on gloves and still got a spark down them so now I have my first welding scar.

Mig. I got a nice welders-burn too–UV is a funny thing.

East Chicago Sunburn, we used to call it. I often welded with just a pair of properly shaded goggles, which made me look like an inverse raccoon.

I'm going to wait and get a helmet of my own. Our backup one doesn't adjust for your head so you have to just hold it up.
